Welcome to St Gabriel's Badminton Club Website!
We are a well-established and competitive badminton club playing in the heart of London. We are a predominantly gay club but welcome players and supporters from all walks of life.
Our members are made up of all nationalities and are mainly men. We are always hopeful of starting a women's team. We are always looking for experienced players or those who are looking to improve their game in a fast-paced and enthusiastic club. We do not discriminate on grounds of race, sex, religion, belief, sexual orientation, age or disability and accept members purely on standard of play.
[Standard of Our Members]
The standard of members ranges from strong club players to county level players. Please note that we are unfortunately unable to accept beginners due to the court restrictions we have. If you would like to come down for a trial, please e-mail us to arrange a suitable visit. Generally, most of our members have played junior/senior county (and some national level) badminton and prospective members should currently be playing at that level.
[Club Activities]
Although we play competitively, the social side of the club is paramount and we all know how to have a great time off court. We organise periodic social events including nights out clubbing, barbeques and our Christmas parties which sometimes includes cabaret provided by the players. [Tournament & Leagues]
We currently have 3 teams entered in London league competition - Division 2B of the Middlesex County League, Division 1 of the Hammersmith & District League Men's 6 and Division 1 of the Hammersmith & District Men's 4 (we have won the Men's 6 for three out of the last four seasons). See our results pages to see how we are getting on this year. We also compete in many overseas tournaments and arguably have the best record of all the gay clubs in the UK, if not Europe.
[Club Night & Fees]
Club nights are Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 6:30pm to 10:30pm. Annual membership for the year is £90 (or £8 per month if you join mid-way through the year) and club fees are £4 per night for members and £7 for non-members. Match fees are £7 for home matches (including food). We play with quality feather shuttles and use the "Rally Point Scoring" system.
